We take all reasonable steps to minimise our impact on the environment, and the packaging of our orders is a key element of this from multiple angles.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

In the first instance, we aim to minimise the amount of packaging used in our shipments, as this both reduces the amount of packaging required, and also lowers the carbon footprint of the delivery. All of our orders are hand packaged, so our staff can select the most appropriate box size or envelope for your order.

We hand package every order - so you won't receive an SD card in a box big enough for a rig!

In order to minimise the amount of packaging going to landfill, we often re-use packaging we receive from our suppliers. While we are working with our equipment suppliers to reduce the amount of plastic in our regular supply chains, it's still unfortunately common to receive bubble wrap and other plastic packaging from other sources (such as our office supplies). We re-use this rather than throwing it away or recycling it - so you may still find some plastic packaging in your orders.

Re-using is better than recycling! We often reuse packaging we receive, and we encourage our customers to do the same where possible.

Where we do have to purchase new packaging, we ensure that it is fully recyclable, and in most cases sourced from recycled materials in the first place. Even the packaging tape is fully recyclable, so if you aren't able to re-use the packaging, it is easy to recycle in normal household waste.

Supply Chain

We are working with our suppliers to encourage the reduction of all single use plastic in the full supply chain. Many of our suppliers have made changes in recent years towards cardboard based packaging, including Alti-2 and L&B.

Carbon Footprint

Each year, we calculate the carbon emissions produced by our shipments, and we pay to offset these emissions, along with our other activities. Whilst carbon offsetting is not a replacement for reducing emissions in the first place, it is a short term action that reduces the effects.

We are pleased that FedEx have committed to transitioning to an all electric fleet, however we would like to see them speed up their current timeframes for this. We are on the lookout for a courier who produces lower emissions whilst still providing a reliable service.
